Poetry & Paint is a project initiated by Carmina Masoliver to see visual art merge with poetry through a variety of mediums and disciplines. In the first instance, the submissions will be presented on this website. The aim is then to transport the work from the digital world to the real world. A week-long exhibition in London will showcase the work and artists will get the opportunity to perform their writing and talk about their creative process with a series of events throughout that week. This will provide a platform for possible interest in producing a book containing the work created throughout this project. In order to take the project further, funding is needed.

During the week-long exhibition, visual art will be selected to be displayed at 'The Showcase' venue, which is part of Craft Central. The events will be in the form of poetry performances/readings, music nights, creative workshops, film screenings etc. They will be the result of the content of the submissions, but collaboration is the key, particularly how the visual and textual work together. The aim is for this to take place in April 2013, therefore it would be required to receive the full funding by then.

The main use for the funding will be to pay the artists involved in the performances, and to enable a space for visual artists a free platform to show their work. There would ideally be a mixture of established and emerging artists. The secondary costs will be for the venue hire. However, as Carmina has a membership with Craft Central, as well as public liability insurance for a year, this means part of the cost is covered and the hire fees are much lower than for non-members.

After the success of 'Carmina's Poetry Tease,' which was a pilot event of the same nature, Carmina has taken it upon herself to aim to get the funding needed to take the project further. She is looking for like-minded individuals to get involved with submissions and the eventual organisation of the week.
