Paddy Magee in Do Not Trust The Animals

From the sexy mind of definitely award-winning comedian Paddy Magee (Comicide, Project 52, Hing & Magee) and famously ugly former slave Aesop (The Tortoise & the Hare, The Ant & the Grasshopper, The Hing & the Magee) comes Do Not Trust The Animals, a probably hilarious show about storytelling and why it matters.

WHO'S THIS PADDY MAGEE GUY? HE LOOKS HANDSOME AND FUNNY.

He sure is! Paddy Magee (also known as Patrick Magee, Pat Magee and Señor Laserbutt) is a hilarious stand-up comedian from Sydney, Australia who has recently moved to the UK to pursue his dream of being the next Doctor Who. Back home, he was a member of the comedy troupes Comicide and Project 52, and he has written and performed a number of critically acclaimed comedy shows and plays at the Melbourne International Comedy Festival, the Sydney Comedy Festival and the Sydney Fringe festival.

AND WHAT'S THIS HANDSOME SHOW ALL ABOUT?

With jokes and illustrations at no extra cost, Paddy will take apart the most beloved fables of your childhood… and then put them back together (with your help), in a show that’s half stand-up comedy, half craft get-together and half animals.

"Interspersed between the readings were stories of his childhood, the surreal pranks played upon him by his parents, and the gradual evolution of a brand new fable. The new fable was built upon suggestions thrown in by the audience, and was illustrated by rapidly-created cartoon characters, drawn on a nearby easel. Pat has found some strong (and absurd) material to work with in Aesop, and he made good use of it," Julian Orbach.

"Charming and self-deprecating, but with a laser sharp wit, Magee breaks down Aesop’s ancient fables, brings in some of his own familial stories, and even freestyles a fable (drawings and all) with the help of the audience. While much of Aesop’s work is obviously outdated and sometimes absurdly translated, Magee brings a refreshing comedic look at the fables with act outs, witticisms, and observations that are as spontaneous as they are hilarious," Liam Bradbery.

WHY SHOULD I DONATE?

While the Edinburgh Fringe Festival is an incredible opportunity, and I have been very lucky to have been given a venue by the Laughing Horse Free Fringe, there are loads of costs involved in putting on a show. These include travel, accommodation, marketing and the copious diet of gold-dusted caviar that I have become accustomed to.

WHAT'S IN IT FOR ME?

Have a look to the right to see the wide variety of incentives I'm offering. I believe that every pledge deserves a reward, so even if you can only afford £1 you'll get something back. Plus, every backer gets to say that they're supporting live comedy, and if you tell that to someone on a date they'll probably lip-kiss you a bit.

WHAT HAPPENS IF YOU RAISE MORE THAN £1000?

If that happens, and it's a very big if, I'd like to put the extra funds towards hiring a film crew to film the show with a view to releasing it as a DVD in the future. On the off-chance that we do raise that much money, I'll add in a new level of pledge rewards including a digital or hard-copy of the show.

OKAY, I'LL DO IT!

Thanks Internet friend!

Over Halfway There!

This is so exciting! We're well over halfway towards reaching our target of £1000, and it's all thanks to you guys! £600 means that I've covered all my printing costs, including posters, and half of my accommodation for the month. With just under two weeks to go, this is the most crucial part of the fundraising campaign. If you haven't already, get on to the email and the Facebook and the Twitter and spread the word about the show. That way, we'll hit our target with ease, and maybe even have a little extra to keep me eating proper food during the month. Thankyou again. You are all a bunch of Trustworthy Animals.

One Third Down... Two Thirds To Go!

Wow. In just under 5 days, you guys have helped us reach over 1/3 of our goal.
This is absolutely amazing, and I am incredibly touched by the enthusiasm that the Trustworthy Animals have shown so far for the show. So you know where your money is going, £250 will cover all my flyer-printing for the month. The good burghers of Edinburgh will not want for timeslot or venue-related information thanks to your donation.
But as you're all aware, we don't get any funding unless we hit or exceed £1000. So we ask that you continue to be amazing and share the link with your friends (read: bigshot comedy promoters). If we can keep this momentum up, we'll be able to hit our goal with ease!
Happy times and places,
Paddy

10% Already!

Wow! In just two days, we've jumped up to over a hundred pounds. This is really exciting, and thankyou very much to all our supporters. I did not expect this level of support so soon, but I'm very excited!
So you know exactly where your money's going, this first £100 will cover the cost of flyer printing for half the season. Hoop-la!
If you're one of my amazing supporters, the Trustworthy Animals Club, thankyou again for what you've done so far. Keep spreading the word and we'll hit the target in no time at all!
Happy times and places,
Paddy
