Making Design Affordable

We offer workshops in basic DIY, design, upcycling and reconditioning of furniture which helps vulnerable people turn houses into homes.

Our project enables people who would otherwise not be able to afford to take a workshop, not only learn a new skill, but purchase the item they have restored with time credits.

What are time credits?
Every hour spent upcycling or restoring a piece of furniture goes towards a time bank account. Time credits can then be used to off-set the price of items in the shop. Truly making design affordable for all.

We need a small amount of money to get started. You can rest assured that your money will be invested wisely because we've already piloted this project to great success. And we are keen to do it again, we just need a little support from you! All donations will go directly to project costs, i.e. new paint brushes, rollers, overalls and aprons (it's dirty work) paint and specialist supplies to get that gorgeous finish, PPE supplies, craft materials for the knitters and crafters that love our project. As well, marketing materials to let everyone, and their dog, know about the project.

A little bit more about us:
We're a registered charity that helps disadvantaged people, including those who have experienced homelessness, the long-term unemployed and vulnerable women.
Specifically, we help them develop their own DIY and up-cycling skills to improve their living environment, build confidence and provide opportunities for further learning and employment.
We're the only supplier of accredited design training and upcycling workshops in London, working with vulnerable groups. We're constantly monitoring our result to make sure we're getting to the right people and supporting them effectively. And because we know where to find the tools and materials we need for next to nothing, if not free of charge, all we need is an empty space, a small budget and a little inspiration.
We take a void property and make it a destination- a meeting place that attracts a diverse group of local residents.
