James has worked in the television industry for the past three years as a camera assistant at The London Studios. Working on television programmes for BBC, ITV, Channel 4, Sky – and filming some of the world’s finest talent - James has learned a great deal about camera composition, narrative and confidently communicating with others to achieve the best possible end result.

We started Perception Films as a means to indulge in our true passion; to create our own film projects from initial concept through to the final cut.

We are now in pre-production for our second short film 'Accept' (2012).

ABOUT THE FILM
'Accept' is a thought provoking drama centering on three primary characters who all share a connection; Rose, a beautiful woman in her late twenties, David, a young boy with a certain talent and Frank, a typical family man in his late seventies. The connection these characters share is embodied by a mysterious fourth character, the Man. The film is constructed to finish on a powerful climax which will ask the audience an important question and each audience member will answer that question in their own personal way.

The story of 'Accept' is a beautifully heartfelt piece which touches on certain taboos surrounding mortality and the diverse and complex ways in which people accept the notions of life and death.

The locations and visuals in the film are a very important element in the storytelling process as they hold personal feelings to the characters, which vary throughout the film. To achieve our desired visual intentions and to not compromise on them is what makes the difference between an average film and a stunning film. We are aiming for the latter!

WHAT THE FUNDING WILL BE SPENT ON
After discussion with our Director of Photography (Adam Etherington), it has been decided that we will be shooting on the ARRI ALEXA camera which is the most highly acclaimed digital film camera currently on the market. This camera and lighting package will be the main expense which the funding we are asking for will cover. We really want to be able to deliver the stunning visual beauty we envisage and which is described in the script, as we truly believe in this narrative and want to represent it on screen in the best way possible.

If you do make a pledge, we can guarantee that you have made a difference and helped collaborate with us to make a strong piece of work which we can send around the world with pride and distribute as best we can.

DEAR PLEDGERS,
We have so much respect for the people in this world who still encourage creativity and actually want to see people succeed.

Along with the rewards we are providing, if you do make a pledge you will also be considered a friend of Perception Films - and friendships are for life.
